As the owner and lead consultant of Vital Legal Nurse Consultants, LLC, I have been a registered nurse for 18 years. I spent the first half of my career in the emergency department. I have worked in academic level one trauma centers, suburban hospitals, and small community hospitals.

As I grew in my nursing career, my roles changed. I have been a regulatory compliance coordinator and manager, then a quality improvement manager, and finally, I became the director of quality improvement in three different facilities–two short-term acute care hospitals and one long-term acute care hospital.

As the Director of Quality Improvement, I analyze all medical records for patients who experienced a patient safety incident such as pressure injury, fall, medication error, wrong-site surgery, and other issues that deviate from policies or regulations.

I have extensive experience building cases, chronologies, and timelines from the medical malpractice lens to defend potential litigation. I recently Co-Authored Medical Record Analysis: A Guide for Attorneys from Expert LNCs, which became a #1 best seller on Amazon.
